On Tuesday, the messaging app WhatsApp was unavailable to users all around the world, according to the outage monitor Downdetector.
According to the report posted on the website, the app went offline just before noon, and #WhatsApp quickly became Pakistan’s top trend on Twitter as more than 40,000 users discussed the outage.
Users noted that despite the app’s display of “connected,” they were unable to send messages.
As at around 0750 GMT, according to Downdetector, more than 11,000 customers in India have reported an outage, compared to 68,000 in the UK and 19,000 in Singapore.
By combining status information from many sources, including user-submitted problems on its platform, Downdetector keeps track of outages. There’s a chance that more customers were impacted by the outage.
A Meta representative said, “We’re aware that some users are now experiencing problems sending messages, and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as soon as possible.”
Major social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp experienced a significant outage in October 2021 that may have affected tens of millions of users.
Outages were detected by Downdetector in densely populated cities like Paris and Washington.
