The largest industrial area of Sindh has asked the government to suspend gas supply to CNG stations in order to save the billions worth of losses in exports. The SITE industrial area has been suffering from water and gas shortage and it has gone too far according to the chairman of SITE Jawed Bilwani. The chairman insisted that the government in Sindh takes a similar action as in Punjab and suspend the CNG station’s supply so that the industry could function.
The chairman was furious at the fact that the government was giving priority to the CNG stations, which were a third priority. He said that the CNG stations had been constructed in violation of the mandatory distances between the stations, which further decreases the pressure of the gas. He said that during the last week, there was gas supply for only two days, which delayed the export orders worth millions of dollars. Huge losses have resulted and these losses won’t be recovered owing to the high cost of doing business compared to the other regional countries.
The chairman insisted that the government should take the matter seriously, otherwise in the absence of gas and water and poor regulations, many industries will face a closure or will relocate to regional countries.
