Islamabad: Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz sharif was fooled when fake paintings of well-known artist were shown to him at one of the high level exhibition. The exhibition to display artwork of the artists was held last year, on June 22 at one of the local hotels.
The event was attended by high government officials. Governor Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif was the Chief Guest. On the occasion Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim and retired justice, Nasir Iqbal was also present.
According to the sources, fake paintings, acclaimed to be that of the re-known artist, were the works of former IG Khalid Latif. When the “real artist” tried to contact the organizer of the event, it was learnt that he had fled abroad by the time.
IG Khalid said that Sadqain himself had never sold out his paintings to any local men, the Pakistanis. Forgery has penetrated deep in our society. Previously, artwork of Sadquain had been stolen from Frere Hall, Clifton, Karachi. In a year, over seventy paintings of the artist.
