Nail biting is a common habit all over the world but even those who are affected by it don’t know why they bite their nails.
Despite the disgusting looks people give you when you are biting your nails or the serious health issues it may cause still almost 45% of teenagers and about 30% of adults bite their nails. This is nothing to do with being hungry or loving the taste of your nails, rather it’s a physiological issue.
Researchers have given four main reasons for nail biting:
>Tracy Foose a professor of psychology at UCSF says the main reason is people just like to nail bite, “They Feel Good” he said.
> Weill Cornell Medicine professor believes it is also a Family heritage which people carry on. A third of the nail biters take the habit from their family members.
>Another reason is that during childhood everyone sucks thumbs, and many of them continue it in the form of nail biting.
