In an exciting development for farmers in Punjab, the provincial government has announced the launch of the Kissan Khushal program, aimed at providing substantial support to the agricultural community.
Under this initiative, farmers will receive Rs. 300 billion in interest-free loans within the first year alone. This news comes amidst efforts to bolster the agricultural sector and uplift the livelihoods of those engaged in farming activities across the province.
Empowering Farmers Through Interest-Free Loans
Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Muhammad Ashiq Hussain Shah Kirmani recently unveiled the details of the agricultural package in a video broadcast. The comprehensive plan encompasses a total budget of Rs. 450 to 500 billion.
A significant portion of this budget, approximately Rs. 300 billion, has been earmarked for interest-free loans to farmers, marking a substantial investment in the agricultural sector.
Support for Small-Scale Farmers
Acknowledging the diverse needs of farmers, the Kissan Khushal program prioritizes support for small-scale farmers. In the initial phase, Rs. 150 billion will be disbursed, with special provisions for farmers holding less than 12.5 acres of land.
These farmers will have access to the Kisan Card, facilitating easier access to financial assistance and other benefits.
Loan Provisions and Additional Support
Under the program, farmers can get interest-free loans of Rs. 30,000 per acre of land, providing crucial financial relief. Additionally, Rs. 100 billion has been allocated for subsidies and various supportive measures, further enhancing the viability of agricultural activities across Punjab.
The launch of the Kissan Khushal program represents a significant milestone in Punjab’s agricultural landscape, promising substantial support and relief to farmers.
With generous loan provisions, subsidies, and targeted initiatives, the government is fostering a thriving agricultural sector, ensuring the prosperity of farmers and the sustainability of agricultural practices for generations to come.
