Mitsubishi i-MiEV, is the most affordable and smallest car in the U.S. market so far and the amazing fact is it is electrically driven. The cost of this small car is just $29,125. A survey is conducted on this car and attained following public views:
It’s a good deal for the earth and could end up crushing the wars started over fuel. Tired of all the innocent lives lost over fuel and then listening to all the lying politicians trying to convince the public that the wars are for other reasons rather than the power struggle over fuel. (Paula Kessel)
I think the biggest problem with electric cars is that in urban areas, where they make the most sense, people mostly park on the street, where you can’t plug it in. (Jeremy Routhier-James)
Absolutely if I could buy one for under $20,000.00 I think this is a price point that needs to be reached for electric cars to take off. Until then I will continue to drive my Mazda 3 which cost $18,999.99 and gets 33mpg (Jason Earl)
I would definitely buy an electric car. My commute to work is about a mile and the grocery store, druggist is 1/2 mile further. Relatives and other shopping 1/2 hour away so electric would work great for me. Only wonder how they would fare in very cold weather since we have a lot of that in Northern Vermont. (Eileen O’Connor Sonnick)
Yes, I’m looking for one now. Tthe technology has reach a level that would suit 90+% of our driving needs and the rest could be provided by rentals. We live 4 miles outside of town in a semi-rural area and never put more than 60 miles on the car in a single day of local driving. I am primarily driven by cost, and electricity is much less expensive per kilowatt-hour than gas or diesel. I think it’s a big mistake of the American Car manufacturers to come in only at the high end of the market (Chevy Volt). They’ll only convince the average car buyer that electric cars are toys for the rich guys! (John Loram)
For the average American commute distance of 16 miles a bicycle might be the best choice, then transit, then an electric vehicle. Too bad Congress is defunding bike/pedestrian infrastructure. Most people won’t walk/ride if they consider it unsafe. If you only had an EV you could use a shared vehicle program or a rental for occasional long trips. Electricity from coal, while not ideal, still results in far less greenhouse gas emissions for a vehicle than gas or diesel. Also, many utilities offer Green Power programs for a little extra per month which would provide a very low emission solution. (Rick Butzberger)
The electric grid can’t fully support the needs of the nation now. (Brown outs, power conservation requests and mandates at heavy use times). Imagine adding millions of cars needing recharges onto the grid. It also puts others in the same position the oil cartels are now–constantly taking the money out of our pockets according to how much money they want to make. (Sandy Healy)
We are driving a Volt. We have 2400 miles on it and put in 9 gallons of gas! The tank is full by the way. It is a second car. We love it! We don’t want to keep killing people over oil. We will go down in the history books as the generation who gassed themselves to death with internal combustion engines. (Bev Passerello)
