Karachi/Lahore: Gulzar Khan has been nominated to represent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the new talks committee. The PTI officials informed that the name of Gulzar Khan, member of National Assembly (MNA) from Peshawar, has been selected and sent to the government as a representative of PTI in the talks.
A new committee will be formed by the government to hold talks directly with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in order to speed up the peace process. The decision was made by the government on 6th March.
Earlier a press conference was held by Imran Khan, chief of PTI, in Lahore, in which he stated that a pro-American lobby was allegedly steering the country towards destruction. He further urged that the government should alienate the Taliban group in favour of the peace talks from those who are opposing the peace talks.
Imran khan has firmly supported the talks with the Taliban and has repeatedly stated that a military operation against Taliban is not a solution to this problem. Initially PML-N had been approaching the PTI for the inclusion of KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak in the government committee for holding talks.
