Faisalabad: The local police hammered the students Wednesday afternoon who were protesting against the killing of their university mate who was killed in a road accident. The police carried out baton-charged and tortured when they took to the streets to protest the death of their companion, local media reported.
The sources say that students were demonstrating against the accidental death of another student named Haris who died on Tuesday. The students blocked the traffic on Jaranwala Road forcing the nearby market to be closed down.
Meanwhile, the police reached on the spot with armoured vehicles and tried to negotiate with the students to end the protest but the students remain undeterred. The police taking the charge, dispersed the crowd with baton charge and after an hour, traffic was resumed on the road.
The protesters demanded the authorities to held the killer van driver who killed Haris while he was stopping the van. The police insists that the family of victim has forgiven the driver.
