Islamabad: The masses are facilitated with the short message service (SMS) by the Director General of Immigrations and Passports through which they would be able to track down their passports and documents by sending SMS on 9988 with their tracking numbers, it has been learnt.
Through the program, the masses would be able to collect information and details about box ID and passport collection date, the status of the passport after bio-metric verification. The automated system would aid the applicant to know about the status of the passport verification process by the passport office. Fourthly, in case of the entrance of invalid token ID, the passport holder would be informed.
Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan at the Interior Ministry office inaugurated the SMS service the last Saturday. Nisar Ali Khan directed the DG of Immigration and Passport to issue the ordinary passports with in 10 days while the urgent passports are delivered with in 4 days. The interior minister calls the process as good initiative for reducing the passport earning hurdles.
