Karachi: The overall performance of 23 members Pakistan Olympic Squad remained quite unsatisfactory as it was expected before the commencement of mega event played in London. The National Squad participated in four different sport events including Hockey, swimming, shooting and athletics.
In the National game hockey, Pakistan played out their heart and soul but unfortunately ends up on the losing side as the team failed to qualify for the knockout stages. Pakistan started the competition on a high as they drew the match against much stronger Spain but lost to Britain and Australia by a huge margin, winning two matches against South Africa and Argentina.
In Men’s 100m Preliminaries, Pakistan’s Liaqat Ali finished forth which was the best performance by any athlete of Pakistan. Rabia Ashiq clinched the 6th Spot in Women’s 800m Round 1 which was fairly substandard.
In shooting, Khurram Inam played upto his bar but finished at 29th Rank shooting 25 out of 25 in his last try. Anum Bandey concluded his appearance with rank 4, the last in the competition of Women’s 400m Individual Medley Heats. Israr Hussain, got eight in Men’s 100m Freestyle Heats.
