ISLAMABABD: A report issued by International Regulation Health (IRH) has said that Pakistan has transferred polio virus to Afghanistan three times in three months previously. Afterwards, the concerns of transferring polio virus from Pakistan to other countries of the world have increased. There are four countries including Pakistan on which sanctions of travelling to other countries have been imposed and still the sanctions are maintained.
The committee of International Health Regulation (IHR) due to polio virus has maintained sanctions on Cameroon, Gani, Pakistan and Syria. According to a communiqué issued by the committee, Pakistan is not complying with the recommendations given by IRH concerning polio. It has stated that Pakistan should ensure anti-polio vaccination to those who want to travel abroad and none can be permitted to travel in case they don’t have polio cards.
The report further states that in case of emergency travelling, the anti-polio vaccination should be ensured to give at the airport to the travelers. The committee has asked the government of Pakistan to provide with all the records of those who have been vaccinated so far before the next meeting. The committee has explained if the recommendations of polio were not acted upon, airport screening of Pakistanis would be made in foreign countries.
