The Pak-US Business opportunity conference is being arranged on March 10th and 11th in Islamabad. The conference will be attended by 100 US companies related to the sector of energy, textiles, agriculture, healthcare, infrastructure, IT, etc. this will be the third conference in the series of Pak-US Business conference. The US convoy stated that the conference aimed at bringing prosperity to Pakistan, and a prosperous Pakistan will bring the regional economies together and secure peace in the region.
Earlier two conferences were held in London and Dubai owing to security reasons. Mr. Olson, the US ambassador to Pakistan, stated that Pakistan’s manpower is educated and its economic growth is steady. The Pakistani government was trying to speed up the process of economic growth and eliminate poverty. The US is already involved with Pakistan in various sectors such as energy and infrastructure. It had also offered a grant of $ 150 million to develop businesses.
American Business Council of Pakistan (ABC) president Arshad Saeed Husain stated that the council had collaborated with the Ministry of Commerce and the US Department of State for the third edition of Business Opportunities Conference. He also informed that about 15 to 20% of Pakistan’s total exports enter the US market each year. The US imports were $ 3.687bn in 2013, which was about 16% of Islamabad’s total exports. The US has also been an important source of foreign direct investment (FDI) for Pakistan.
