ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) has ordered today to open one track of Shahrah-e-Dastoor completely. The hearing of the case about stopping possible extra-constitutional step was held in Supreme Court in which SC ordered to fully clear one track of Shahrah-e-Dastoor till tomorrow, which leads to the Parliament and the Supreme Court of Pakistan, for vehicles and the public.
The court in its order stated that Attorney General (AG), lawyers of both the parties (PTI and PAT) and the registrar should review, adding that the political workers of both the parties, armed with rods were checking lawyers and the public. Further hearing of the case would take place tomorrow.
A five member larger bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Nasir-ul- Mulk is hearing the case. During the proceeding of the case, Justice Asif Khosa said that the matter was not of Shahrah-e-Dastoor but was of constitution. He added that constitution and democracy were under threats, orthopaedic doctor had done brain surgery for the four times, and he had to be stopped for the fifth time. Earlier, the AG had submitted the response of the federal government concerning the sits-in.
Justice Saqib Nisar said that political dirt should not be brought to the court, we would not stop anybody from protest but we would not let anybody influence on the basic rights of the people. He said that the constitution of Pakistan be saved; adding that after the emergence of Pakistan, the only blessing we received was the constitution of Pakistan.
Justice Jawwad Khawaja said that acting upon the constitution was different orally and practically. He said that no one was acting upon the constitution and anarchy had prevailed. He asked the lawyer of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Mr Ali Zafar Advocate if that gathering was not in your control. The advocate replied that the leadership of PAT was the voice of public, adding if someone was stopped on Shahrah-e-Dastoor; it would be an individual’s matter.
