Karachi: Jamaat-e Islami (JI) Karachi Chief Muhammad Hussain Mehanti has lambasted the law enforcement agencies for failure to apprehend the target killers of the citizens especially the lawyers and termed death of the lawyers was a huge national loss. The writ of the government was absolutely missing while the gangs of criminals, extortionist and target killers had complete freedom to operate anywhere they liked to and hold the civil society as their subjects.
Expressing his concern on lawyers targeted assassinations and prevalence of unrest, sense of insecurity and chaos in the city, he said that passing orders for suspending Police personnel was not a proper solution while Police’s attitude toward the civilians was unfriendly.
JI had always rejected use of force in order to settle down disputes and stood beside the civil society and the lawyer fraternity through thick and thin. The targeted killings of the lawyers were part of a conspiracy to cause people of different schools of thoughts to confront and eruption of sectarian violence, he said adding that the state machinery especially the home ministry has failed to effectively deploy Police and Rangers forces in order to provide security to the civilians and the lawyers.
“It was a misery that the killers of the lawyers had managed to flee from the scene easily while Police and Rangers being present in nook and cranny remained idle and their inefficiency have again proved”, he commented. JI strongly condemns threats to the citizens and lawyers and failure of government to ensure protection of people’s lives and properties. And in this regard, JI would soon announce its future strategy for the elimination of targeted killings, which never stopped despite all claims by the government.
