Karachi Traffic Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ahmed Nawaz has announced a traffic challan-free window during Ramadan. This measure will facilitate commuters during rush hour and iftar time.
This directive aims to ensure that citizens can reach their homes safely and on time to break their fast.
Relief During Rush Hour and Iftar
During Ramadan, from 5 pm until iftar, commuters rushing home will not be fined for traffic violations. DIG Nawaz emphasized the importance of maintaining smooth traffic flow during this crucial time.
Additionally, motorists traveling with family members will be given warnings instead of challans.
Focus on Road Safety
While providing relief to commuters, the Karachi Traffic Police will intensify efforts to enforce traffic regulations, particularly focusing on breaches of one-way regulations.
These measures are aimed at reducing road accidents and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of traffic. Motorists are urged to avoid parking vehicles at turning points to prevent congestion.
Strict Compliance and Accountability
DIG Nawaz emphasized the importance of accountability and professionalism among traffic officers. Officers equipped with body-worn cameras will be authorized to issue challans, ensuring transparency and accountability in the enforcement process.
Moreover, officers are instructed to adhere strictly to the fast lane regulations on Sharea Faisal and to direct motorcyclists to stay in the by-lane.
Furthermore, car lifting operations will be conducted exclusively for cases of double parking or illegal parking, aiming to alleviate congestion on Karachi’s roads.
Any instances of misconduct or inappropriate behavior by officers towards citizens will be met with departmental action, reinforcing the commitment to uphold professionalism and public service standards.
The Karachi Traffic Police’s initiatives aim to strike a balance between facilitating commuters during rush hour and ensuring road safety. With a focus on smooth traffic flow, enforcement of regulations, and accountability, these measures aim to enhance the commuting experience for citizens during this sacred month.
