Islamabad: Federal Board of Revenue has decided to bring the retailers in to the Net Tax. The FBR for this purpose have taken help from an exotic organization GIZ. In this process the FBR and foreign organization will do a targeted survey against such tax evaders. There are multi-millionaire traders who are not paying taxes, says FBR.
Last year out of a population of 180 million people only 711,940 had been categorized for the e-returns with the FBR. This number of people is less than 0.4 percent of the total population. The chairman of Federal Board of Revenue Mr. Tariq Bajwa has told the senate standing committee on finance that they were working in the collection of data. He also explained that the targeted survey is a good step to bring such people forward.
FBR chairman has also said that they do not have any data of the people were sending money from abroad. These people usually invest the money in real state. He further added that the board was collecting data of electricity from commercial users. These commercial users include shops and offices.
He also said that the FBR will collect data only of the people who are potential taxpayers. He added that still 30 thousand people have been listed as potential taxpayers in last three months. Out of these people only 1,000 to 1,200 will be returning the taxes.
