President Zardari had selected Raja Pervez Ashraf as Prime Minister to serve as escape goat for protecting his ill-gotten wealth in Swiss Banks. He was talking to a delegation of Pakistanis living abroad, which visited Mansoora on Sunday. Syed Munawar Hasan said that like his predecessor, Raja Pervez Ashraf had declined to write a letter to the Swiss authorities and had termed it unconstitutional. He said the Supreme Court alone was competent to interpret the constitution and its orders regarding Swiss letter were beings violated again. However, he was sure that the day of reckoning of the plunderers of national wealth was at hand.
Describing corruption as the biggest problem of the country, the JI Ameer said corruption cases in connection with the Rental Power projects were pending against the new Premier. According to the NAB Chairman, corruption of about Rs 6 to 8 billion was taking place daily. The government was running the affairs of the state by printing currency notes and borrowing from within the country and abroad. On the other hand, billions of rupees from the public money were being misappropriated every day due to which the country’s economy had ruined, inflation was on the rise and prices were soaring.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that the US and its allies who were accusing Pakistan of helping the Haqqani net work had turned a bind eye to India’s double standards. He said actually it was India that was providing terrorist training and funds to the Taliban commanders but was deceiving the US, NATO and the world community by putting the blame on Islamabad.
He said the US had begun crusades against Islam by holding the Muslims responsible for terrorist activities all over the world. Even after passage of twelve years of the 9/11, the US had not been able to prove its allegation before the world. More than three hundred books had been written and over a dozen documentaries had been prepared on the twin tower tragedy but the involvement of even a single Muslim in the incident had not been proved. The blame was being put on the Muslims only in order to check the rapid advance of Islam in the west, he added.
He said that the Pakistan’s image abroad had been lowered only because of the rulers apologetic attitude. He impressed upon the immigrants abroad to prove themselves members of a peace loving and respectable nation. He said it was a pity that lakhs of Pakistanis were forced to live abroad because of the wrong policies of the rulers which had caused large scale closure of industries and unemployment. He said that these talented and hard working Pakistanis could put the country on the path of progress and prosperity.
