Former president of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf’s trial has dominated headlines across Pakistan in recent days. The most recent debate has been on the issue whether Pervez Musharraf should be allowed to leave the country to visit his sick mother in Dubai or not. Punjab’s Law Minister Rana SanaUllah has hinted that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif may allow Musharraf to leave Pakistan.
Rana SanaUllah made these comments speaking in a television talk show of a local news channel where he also stated that it was difficult to remove Pervez Musharraf’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL) and also negated the arguments that the Army or any other country was applying pressure on the Pakistan government regarding this matter.
These discussions have been popular since the trial started because it was Nawaz Sharif who was deposed by Pervez Musharraf during a coup in 1999 and many have said that this case is more about revenge than justice.
Peoples Party leader Fawad Chaudry has said that Muslim League N is failing to hide its hate for the Pakistan Army. During a public poll conducted by Kamran Shahid, people were asked whether Pervez Musharraf should be allowed to leave Pakistan to visit his mother to which 86.9 percent replied yes and only 13.1 percent were not in favour.
