Indian Cricketers normally enjoy super star statuses in the Cricket crazed country but not everyone is able to reach the top. Murali Kartik will be remembered as one of those. Although he enjoyed popularity for some time in the Indian national team, he couldn’t become a regular player but nonetheless he gained many supporters and fans through his easy going attitude and his calm performances when he plaed. He can be followed on his official twitter and facebook accounts twitter.com/kartikmurali and facebook.com/muralikartik.
Born on 11 September 1976 in Madras, Murlai Kartik made a promising start to his cricketing career in the junior level. He attracted attention due to his positive attitude and his consistent performances and earned a place in the India Under 16 team. He then advanced through to playing for Railways and was selected for the Indian Under-19 team.
Murali Karik made his first class debut in 1996 and made his Test debut in 2000 as Anil Kumble’s bowling partner. However he encountered some issues and lost favor with the captain Ganguly who gave favor to promote Harbajhan Singh in his place. Since then Kartik remained under the shadow of the two great spinners Kumble and Harbajan and his opportunities grew scarce.
Murali Kartik enjoyed brief spells of cricket with the Indian national team and had some good performances which include a 6 for 27 spell against Australia in 2007. However he failed to cement his place in the team. He enjoyed more success at the domestic level and has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL and Lancashire, Middlesex, Somerset and Surrey in the English county.
