Karachi: A female Saudi Arabian judo athlete has shown signs of withdrawal from the London Olympics 2012 if she is not permitted to wear Hijab or headscarf during the contest as demanded by Saudi Kingdom, his father told this on Sunday.
According to the details, Wojdan Ali Seraj Abdulrahim Shaherkani is set to participate in the +78 kg judo category on Friday but the Hijab ban by the authorities might become hurdle in her way.
The President International Judo Federation (IJF) Marius Vizer said last week that Saudi athlete would have to compete without a headscarf or Hijab to observe the codes and spirit of judo.
Meanwhile, his father has assured that Shaherkani would not compete if the authorities insist her to remove Hijab.
