The students of Karachi University are outraged by the increase in the fee of the courses being offered at the university. The students marched in front of the administration block of the University of Karachi and chanted slogans against the increase of the fee. The student’s organization Islami Jamiat Talaba organized this protest.
A notification has been circulated around among the students to notify them about the increase in the semester fees. The president of the organization, Qazi Haseeb Alam also addresses the students and urged the Vice Chancellor of the university to withdraw their decision about increasing the fees. He stated that the increase in the fee was not acceptable by the students.
The University of Karachi has notified about a 40% increase in the semester examination fee in addition to the semester fee. The Vice Chancellor however took notice about the demands of the students and assured that he will meet up with the University management and other faculty members to discuss the issue. He stated that the increase in the fee was due to the financial crisis that the university was facing and it could no longer take the burden.
