Whenever Pakistan’s economic hub Karachi faces shutter down media reports that Rs. 3-4 billion loss is occurred. Recently the metropolitan city saw a complete shutter down on which President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Haroon Agar statement was published in leading English newspaper that Rs. 3-4 billion loss occurred in trade and industry which include import/export, government revenues, daily production etc.
This means that when port city is disturbed it causes a huge loss to Pakistan’s economy and people also suffer financially. Thousands of daily wages workers are present in Karachi which suffers the most because of these shutdowns.
Complete shutter down in Karachi in seen for 10-15 days in whole year which means total loss of around Rs. 50 billion. If motorway can be protected by good police then why Karachi police is not given good salary and trained well so that they can perform efficiently when these shutter down strikes are called. Rs. 50 billion is no small amount after the next general elections credible, honest and non-political CCPO Karachi and IG Sindh should be appointed so that city remain calm and safe for business.
