Hit by target killings and load shedding Karachi is among ten (10) cheapest cities according to a survey report. Most of the cheapest cities are in South Asia. Karachi is at the bottom of the index. New Delhi (130th) and Mumbai are also in bottom 10 where as Colombo is in bottom 20 and is ranked at 114th.
Japan’s Tokyo is the costliest place in the world, followed by Oslo ( Norway), Japan’s Osaka Kobe is at third, Paris is at fourth where as Zurich ( Switzerland) is ranked at fifth.
Others in the top-ten include Sydney (6th), Melbourne (7th), Frankfurt (8th), Geneva (9th) and Singapore (10th).
In 2010 The Angolan capital Luanda was the most expensive city where as Karachi was ranked at 140th.
In 2010 Sydney was at 24th spot and Melbourne was at 34th.
In a similar survey which was conducted some ten years ago, Sydney and Melbourne were ranked at 71st and 80th respectively.
This report further disclose that, it is cheaper to live in the cities like London, Berlin, Rome, Beijing, Hong Kong and Vienna, and Begin than living in the Australian cities as due to the soaring Australian Dollar Australian cities have become costlier.
