My Fellow Pakistanis: SALAMUN ALAIKUM
As I stand before you today to present the Manifesto of Jannat Pakistan Party, I must first introduce to you the motivating idea that has led me to jump into Pakistan’s political arena. It was in October of 2006 that my daughter urged me to read a book written by a young Senator from Chicago. A passage from that book was so compelling, so insightful, so full of truth that night after night, I pondered over it. I took that passage to heart and I will share it with you.
‘When we abandon the field of religious discourse–when we ignore the debate about what it means to be a good Christian or Muslim or Jew; when we discuss religion only in the negative sense of where or how it should not be practiced, rather than in the positive sense of what it tells us about our obligations toward one another; when we shy away from religious venues and religious broadcasts because we assume that we will be unwelcome—others will fill the vacuum. And, those who do are likely to be, those with the most insular view of faith, or who cynically use religion to justify their partisan ends.” ~ The author of this passage is President Barak Obama—The Audacity of Hope.
Look at the vacuum created by the fall of The Ottoman Empire. Defiant, anarchist criminals, who used religion to justify their Government, or disobedience of their Government, filled the vacuum created. Losers, underachievers and failures of the Islamic world took over the vacant chair of Islam’s leadership. They preached hatred and defiance of government and were able to create a massive following. Interestingly this hatred and defiance was only their blackmail to earn political benefits. They used their ‘nuisance value’ to harass governments, but their followers were never able to know of secret deals of their leaders with Imperialist governments; nor did their Imperialist masters know that Blackmailers were not leaders of Islam but were mere Blackmailers. In this chaos, which spread over two centuries the best minds of Islam learned to shy away from Islam. Blackmailers became the cherished agents of Imperialists. What Imperialists never realized was that Blackmailers were not loyal to them either. MANIFESTO POSTED ON WEBSITE
