Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) to stage protest demonstration at Banaras Chowk on 25th May, against unprecedented rigging in May 11 polls. JI Sindh Chief Dr Mairaj-ul-Huda Siddiqui, JI Karachi Chief Muhammad Hussain Mahenti, Ameer District West Ishaq Khan, Naib Ameer District West Abdul Razzaq Khan, former JI lawmakers Laeeq Khan, Hameedullah Khan Advocate and others will address the participants.
In a statement issued here on Friday, JI Karachi Chief Muhammad Hussain Mahenti said that the May 11 polls were worst ever general elections held in the electoral history of Pakistan adding the entire electoral process was sabotage by record rigging.
“Despite the fact that the JI and other political and religious parties announced boycott of the May 11 polls due to unprecedented rigging, but; unfortunately, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and other concerned institutions are not ready to take notice of the rigged polls of Karachi”, Mahenti added.
He said that the JI and other parties had raised their concerns over rectification of voters’ list and staged rallies, protests and demonstrations to draw the attention of ECP. However; it had not been paid any attention towards the matter and the reservations of different parties had proved factual, when the “Thappa Mafia” had done record rigging in May 11 polls.
Mahenti further said that the people will never forget the worst ever rigging in the general elections of may 11, as they had been deprived by their basic right to vote on that day. In a statement, JI Karachi Chief stressed upon the need to declare the elections of Karachi and Hyderabad ‘defunct’ and announce re-elections in both the cities.
He also appealed the people to participate in the protest in large number to compel the authorities concerns for holding re-polls in Karachi and Hyderabad.
