Tehran: 17 Iranian Sunni Muslims faced death sentence in the country after the local government termed people to act against the commandment of God and violating the law. Six of the termed executed had then pleaded for UN intervention in this regard to save their lives but no action had been taken by the human rights body and the accused were killed.
In Rajai Shahr, west of Iran the imprisoned had been severely tortured and forced to admit to the charge imposed on them. International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran state that prisoners had confessed to their activities hence they could not be saved.
It is pertinent here to mention that the Muslims across the globe, including those in Syria, Libya, and Egypt are facing massacre and unrest is witnessed among the Muslim countries. However the happening of such incidents is evidence of racial, sect discrimination that prevails even in the Islamic countries based on differences in religious practices.
Since last 8 years around 200 Sunni Muslims have been victim of oppression in Iran where they have had been deprived of their rights in all the fields of the society. Among the areas that are largely targeted include Bukan, Sardasht, Piranshahr, Javansar, Saghez and Javanrood.
