Indian government banned Zakir Naik’s Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) for five years, but it is unlikely that the ban will be removed ever.
The Union Home Ministry banned the NGO alleging links with terrorists, the decision was made under a meeting which was presided by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Home Ministry said that Zakir Naik had made provocative statements and is involved in propaganda for terrorists. Linking IRF with Zakir Naik’s Islamic channel ‘Peace TV’ the ministry decided to ban the organization. Indian government also stopped the funds of Zakir Naik’s Educational Trust, and there are rumours it may also be closed.
Not only Dr. Zakir Naik and NDTV will be banned, but any one who speak the truth, will be shut down their mouths.

It is not the first time that Indian government is banning Islamic Organization after accusations of terrorism. In past it has banned several peaceful organisations but took no action against hindu extremists organizations.
In 2001 India banned a youth organization ‘Students Islamic Movement Of India’ though it was only a student political party with no links with terrorism. But after banning SIMI some activist took violence as a solution after being arrested and tortured by Indian authorities.
