Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr Javed Laghari said that budget for higher education is being increased all over the world but cut it is being decreased in Pakistan. Pakistan is among the 195 countries, which spend the lesser amount of national income on education.
This he said while addressing the 7th National Science Talent Awards disturbing ceremony among the participants
The award giving ceremony was organized jointly by Higher Education Commission and Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences; meanwhile the awards were distributed in Islamabad on Tuesday among the students who won international contests in the disciplines of science and technology in various countries.
Dr Javed Laghari said that the future of Pakistan would be brighten with the enhancement of higher education, adding that India increased 25 percent for higher education in its budget while Pakistan cut off ten percent of higher education in its budget.
He said that all the developing countries of the world increasing their budgets for higher education but Pakistan is decreasing budgets for the field of research.
He said that it has been proved form the situation and history of the world that development is not possible without progressing in the field of higher education.
He said US President Barrack Hussain Obama in his speech stressed to increase the budget for higher education, adding that Pakistan has been ranked 189 among the 195 countries of the world which spend lesser of its national income on higher education.
He said that the Pakistani students gave the best results this year as they have won nine Bronze medals at international competitions. He hoped that the students will show much better results in the future.
He said that we need to invest more on the youth and increase budget for higher education and research. He added that Pakistani students have the talent and capability of competing students of the world countries.
