Have you ever thought a chicken can live up to 18 months without a head? Seems unbelievable but this happened in Colorado, United States of America (USA).
Lloyd Olsen was a farmer who supplied chicken meat to the market, on 10 September 1945 he slaughtered 50 chickens but 1 didn’t die, he kept it in a box and was astonished to see it alive in the next day.
Soon the news spread around Colorado and other USA states, media covered the stories and exhibitions were held and circus invited Olsen so that people can see this amazing Chicken. But after 18 months the chicken died.
How it survived without its head was unexplainable at that time but now after detailed study and research in this filed it has been found that the chickens’ brain is extremely small and the vital controls are at the lower portion which was previously called brain stem but was in fact the brain.
So the cut didn’t affected the brain and blood clot stopped the bleeding, so though the chicken lost its head but the most essential organ remained safe.
