The government has awarded 40 million dollars annual contract of procurement of parts for the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) planes to US firm based in Dubai. A private TV channel claimed that it is for the first time in the history that ban was imposed on PIA administration to purchase parts from seven hundred venders and all powers of purchase have been given to the Trans World Aviation a Dubai based US company.
According to sources this deal has been kept as secret even the high officials of PIA were not aware of the details of the secret deal and administration has started to send the orders of parts purchasing to the firm.
According to report Director Procurement Khalid Iftikhar has sent a letter to the firm in which he has informed the firm that contract of purchasing the parts and other material has been given to the Trans World Aviation.
According to contract agreement Trans world Aviation would purchase the material for PIA during next five years but the purchasing estimate would not be more than 40 million dollars.
According to report PIA Pilot Association and Engineers Organizations have shown their concerns over the deal and it is expected that these organizations would bring this matter to Supreme Court soon. (SANA)
