Fawad Alam is a young Pakistani cricketer of age 29 years who has earned a reasonable reputation in the Pakistani cricket squad through his performance. He is a left-handed batsman and is a slow left arm orthodox bowler. He made his debut at the age of 17, while playing for Pakistan Customs and Karachi. He was later picked up for the U-19 world cup squad after his performance. Pakistan was able to win this world cup. Fawad became the fifth highest scorer in the Quaid-e-Azam trophy of 2006-07. He took 5 wickets in the Twenty20 cup final and was named not only the Man of the Match, but man of the Series, Best Batsman and Best Bowler. Fawad was also selected as the captain of the Pakistan Academy tour of Bangladesh. His performance attracted the attention of the Pakistan Cricket Board and he was selected for the Pakistan National team. Fawad was 21 at this time. He was unable to score an impressive score at this tournament under the scorching sun of Abu Dhabi. He was not given the opportunity to show his bowling skills, as he was not called for bowling at all. The Pakistan Cricket Board however kept him in the squad and gave him the opportunity to perform in the Pakistan limited over squad.
Fawad scored the most during the Pakistan Academy’s tour of Africa in September-October 2008 and was able to score 302 not out against Kenya.
