Islamabad: A man, named Azhar Safdar, has been imprisoned for 14 months and fine of Rs. 200,000 under the Prevention of Electronic Crime Act 2016, after the Magistrate decision.
Later, he has been arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) because he has been alleged for harassing a girl on social media and the case was filed against him by the harassed family.
The man was trying to blackmail the girl through social media, Facebook, and all evidence was recovered by the team of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on the suspected culprit’s laptop.
The trail has been lead under the cyber crime bill which has provided that man was criminal and must be punished. On the provided evidence court has decided the 14 months imprisonment and a huge amount of fine to him.
It is very alarming that most of the people are not aware of Prevention of Electronic Crime Act, which is all about of social media and internet activities.
