You must have heard that Englishmen Queens’ do not shake hands with everyone. If you ask English people the reason behind it. They say she is distinctive of other women. And, not everyone can touch her. In reply to the question, one of the Muslims answered. To us, every lady is a queen. Thus, she enjoys being untouched. The veil observed by Muslim women is their freedom to chastity.
Concept of ‘Pardah’ dates back to life of Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). Observing veil had not been made compulsory from the very early revelations that came upon from ALLAH ALMIGHTY. Instead, commandment came after one of the Holy Prophet’s companion felt the need of distinguishing ‘Umm ul Momineen ‘(Mothers of the faithful) from other ordinary Muslim women.

Years back, there was a time when every Muslim lady, from a queen to an ordinary maid would cover herself. In 1916, Queen of Austria was covered completely, while she moved among people. A covered woman is eyed with respect. She enjoys the freedom of letting other men to see her only what she wills to show. Islam enjoins high status to women in every respect. However, men are given upper hand to safeguard the women class. Like a pearl is enclosed in a shell. So, a Muslim woman should. She is precious. And not everyone shall have access to her.
