Galle: England cricket team are yet again outclassed by spin bowling bundling out for only 193 runs in reply to Srilanka’s total of 318 in the first innings, here on the 2nd day of the First Test match, leaving a lead of 125 vital runs.
Srilanka’s spin wizard Rangana Herath shattered the hopes of English team, taking 6 major wickets in quick succession. Ian Bell was looking in great touch until he was undone by Herath on timely 52, with a beauty passing the outside edge and removing the off bail.
Later, the tail-enders showed some resistance with Broad, Swann and Anderson scoring 28, 24 and 23 respectively. The major blow to England was a duck by Alastair Cook at the hand of Lakmal. English team remains miserable against the spin bowling as it was the case against Pakistan in United Arab Emirates.
Earlier, Srilanka was restricted to a fair enough total of 318 with a brilliant Century by Mahela Jayawardene who took Srilanka this far single handedly.
Till now, Srilanka has started their Second innings and are 13 for lost of 2 wickets with 3 days remaining in the conclusion of the First test match of the two match Test series.
