Islamabad: The Election Commission Of Pakistan asked the government to to increase the administrative authorities of the Election Commission before the coming elections. The Secretary of the Election Commission Ishaq Khan said that the commission does not have the authority to transfer or suspend the chief secretary or the inspector general. The commission could only recommend the government for it, he added.
The secretary was speaking to a special meeting of senate for the coming election which was headed by the Senator of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Jahangir Badar. The Chairman of the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) Tariq Malik also participated in the meeting.
Khan also said that many issues can be resolved by increasing the representation of Baluchistan in the parliament. He further said that it is the responsibility of the Government to pass legislation for Boluchistan.
The Chief Secretary also informed that the Director General of Rangers, Interior Secretary and Chief Secretaries will be given the orders in the coming month to ensure the Electoral Code Of Conduct in the country.
