Chaklala: The authorities in Pakistan Armed Forces have decided to rename the headquarter of Pakistan Air force after Air Marshal Nur Khan who passed away on December 15, 2011 at the age of 88. The authorities have now decided to change the name of Chaklala Airbase to Nur Khan Airbase.
According to the media reports, the decision has been taken in order to pay homage to the late officer of Pakistan Air Force who was also the first commander of Chaklala Air base.
He was a highly decorated officer and a recipient of the Hilal-e-Jurat, Sitara-e-Pakistan and Sitara-e-Quaid-e-Azam. Air Marshal Noor Khan held the position of commander-in-chief for four years from 1965-1969. He also served as the Managing Director of PIA.
He was appointed as the Governor of West Punjab by Ayub Khan after his term as commander-in-chief ended.
