Selfie fever around the world is at its peak, even those Muslims who go for religious pilgrimage of Makkah can be seen sharing their hajj selfies on social media.
After observing this trend for some time scholars around the world and specially the scholars of Saudi Arabia took a notice and issued religious ruling.
[junkie-alert style=”green”] These scholars emphasized that we should not forget our purpose of the holy pilgrimage, they said that it is a journey to seek forgiveness from Allah and attaining his blessings. They said we should avoid making it a worldly tour which is to explore locations, change the environment or having some awesome memories. [/junkie-alert]
Though scholars differed on whether taking pictures is allowed or not, they all agreed that making it our focus is not a good sign. There are more beneficial things for doing during Hajj then taking selfies from each corner of the Masjid and creating useless albums.
Though it was also said that taking pictures for memory is not wrong, but exhorting your energy on that is something we should think about.
