KARACHI: The Interior Ministry of Sindh has issued the notification of amendment in the ordinance concerning hanging of prisoners. According to the amendment notification, the culprits will be hanged within seven days after the issuance of death warrants.
After the amendment in the function of Sindh High Court, the prisoners waiting for death sentence will be hanged within 7 days in spite of 14 days after the issuance of death warrants. The notification says that the prisoners will be hanged within seven days or no more than 21 days.
On the other hand, the culprits involved in the attack on Pervaiz Musharraf and General Headquarter (GHQ) Rawalpindi, Aqeel alias Dr Usman and Arshad Mehmood have been hanged last night at 9 PM. Eight more terrorists can be hanged at any time after the two hangings.
It is pertinent to mention here that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attacked on Army Public School Peshawar in which 142 people including 133 children were martyred whereas many others were seriously injured. TTP claimed the responsibility of the attack.
After the attack, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in All Parties Conference (APC) unanimously decided to hang all the prisoners who have been declared death sentence and waiting for death penalty. In this regard, 2 terrorists have been hanged last night.
