LONDON: The Chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain has demanded referendum on rangers’ operation in Karachi. According to details, the chief of MQM Altaf Hussain for the first has demanded referendum on rangers’ targeted operation, being taken against criminals in the biggest city of Pakistan, Karachi. It is pertinent to mention here that rangers were called to pacify Sindh 26 years ago, in 1989.
Altaf Hussain termed the statement of Abdul Qadir Baloch baseless who said that majority of the residents of Karachi were in the favor of rangers’ operation. The chief of MQM who has been in London for 23 years has said to the minister of state, Abdul Qadir Baloch that if he thinks the majority of the residents of Karachi favors the rangers’ operation, he then should form a five-member-committee of judges of Supreme Court and High court.
Altaf Hussain suggested to the minister that he should form the committee under which he should have the referendum held on rangers’ steps and operation in Karachi, adding why doesn’t he get the mandate of public’s wishes. He claimed that by referendum, it would be cleared whether public needed Karachi operation or not.
