Allama Iqbal was born in 9th November 1887 at Sialkot. He received his early education in his home town. He graduated from Government College Lahore. He passed his M.A examination from University of Punjab. He was also appointed as a professor of Arabic in Oriental College Lahore. He went to England for higher studies. In London, he received a law degree. He was awarded a degree of PhD in 1908, from Munich University.
Allama Iqbal was a Great leader, Poet, Philosopher, Doctor too. Allama Iqbal took an active part in politics too. Iqbal was well versed in philosophy, both eastern and western. He pointed the defects in the philosophy of west. He was the man who put forward the philosophy of Pakistan and asked Quiad-e-Azam to make it a reality.
Allama Iqbal through his poetry and books awake the Muslims of sub-continent and make them to fight for a separate nation. Iqbal once said:
“ I have learnt one thing from the history of the Muslims. At difficult moments in their history. It is Islam that has always saved Muslims not the Muslims that have saved the Islam if today you put your faith in Islam you will become strong and united once again and save your selves from the complete destruction”
Allama Iqbal died on 21st April 1938. On his death Quaid-e-Azam said:
“To me he was a friend, a guide and a philosopher and during the darkest moments from which the Muslim league had to go he stood like a rock”
His name is now written in golden words.
