The reason for the poor health facilities in Pakistan can be understood by the figures of available doctors & bed in hospitals which are revealed through official records.
In Pakistan there are 195,000 registered doctors which mean 1 doctor for every 997 people.
The number of registered doctors has increased in previous years. In 2016 there were 175,223 doctors registered in Pakistan and now the number has increased to 195,000. But all these doctors are not serving in Pakistan, even if they were in Pakistan still then the number were very low.
Many doctors leave Pakistan for specialization and post graduation and return after their studies while there are others who settle in foreign countries for better future.
When we talk about the condition of the hospitals and the available beds then it is even worse because there is only one bed available for 1,584 people. This is insufficient during normal days and in situation of natural disasters such as the earthquake of 2004 or the 2010 floods in which 1/5th of Pakistan was flooded and 20 million people are affected.
