Millions of vehicles are travelling in the roads of Pakistan with new additions each year. In 2016 more than 230,000 cars were sold in Pakistan, which was an increase of 10% from last year.
Pakistan’s automotive market is captured by three brands Suzuki, Toyota & Honda. Suzuki is the leading brand with compromising of more than 1/3rd of total cars sold each year.
The top 10 & most sold cars of Pakistan are the following:
1) Toyota Corolla: Corolla remains Pakistan most favorite car which sold 40,694 units in the 9 months of the current fiscal year 2016. Corolla is available at a price starting from Rs. 1,659,000 and goes up to Rs. 2,389,000 depending on the different variants such as Xli, Gli, Altis & Altis Grande.
2) Suzuki Mehran: Despite being produced in the same design with same features from 1989 Suzuki Mehran still tops the list of most sold cars with 28,036 units sold. The price of Suzuki Mehran starts from 679,000 and goes up to 802,000.
3 & 4) Honda City & Civic: The third and fourth place is taken by Honda which sold 28,120 units of Honda’s Civic & City in the current year which was an increase of 50% from last year. Civic is being sold at a price of Rs. 3 million while the price of City starts from 1.5 million.
5) Suzuki Bolan: Sales of Suzuki Bolan have been affected by the imported Japanese cars, the sales have become half in recent years but still it sold 14,938 units in current fiscal year.
6) Suzuki Ravi: It is also facing a similar situation like Bolan with decrease in sales of up to 65%. But despite the decrease it is the most popular pick up in Pakistan with sales of 13,988 unites.
7) Suzuki Wagon R: Wagon R is a new appearance in Suzuki’s list of car which saw increase in sales from last year. Successful market campaign resulted in sales of 12,595 units while last year only 6,857 were sold
8) Suzuki Cultus: Suzuki launched its new model for Cultus after 17 years. The new model which is internationally known as Celerio comes with new design and features. Previous model of cultus sold 11,905 units in the past 9 months of the fiscal year.
9) Toyota Hilux: Toyota’s second most popular car is Hilux which saw sales of 4,239 units.
10) Suzuki Swift: With sales of 3,281 units Swift is the last car in the top 10 list, it was launched with the hope of replacing Cultus but customer preferred Cultus.
The list doesn’t include any Japanese cars which were also sold in thousands and can be seen in all major cities of Pakistan. The major imported Japanese cars include:

Toyota’s Passo, Aqua and Prius
Suzuki’s Every & Alto
