Karachi: The Sixty Fifth death anniversary of Pakistan’s name inventer & pioneers of Pakistan National Movement, Chaudhry Rehmat Ali is being observed on 3rd February 2016 on Wednesday. He is attributed with presenting the name “Pakistan” for a break-up Muslim mother country in South Asia.
He was born in a Muslim Gujjar family in Hoshiarpur District of Indian Punjab in 1895. After marking off from Islamia Madrassa Lahore in 1918‚ he educated at Aitchison College Lahore before going to Punjab University to learn legal sciences.
In 1930‚ he shifted to England to study in Emmanuel College Cambridge in 1931. In 1933‚ he wrote and distributed a pamphlet‚ “Now or Never; Are We to Live or Perish Forever”‚ presenting the name “Pakistan” for separate home land for the first time. In 1933‚ he established Pakistan National Movement.
Afterward‚ he got a BA Degree in 1933 and then MA degree in 1940 from the University of Cambridge. Until 1947‚ he intellectually authored various booklets about his dream for South Asia.
In the year 1951 Chaudhry Rehmat Ali passed away. He was buried at Newmarket Road Cemetery‚ Cambridge‚ United Kingdom.
