Karachi: opposition parties have decided to hold “Public March” on February 10 (Sunday) against the absence of army personnel in voters’ verification process and other anomalies being continued during the process. According to the statement issued here on Wednesday, the Public March would be taken from Numaish Chowrangi to Tibet Center at 3.30pm on Sunday. JI General Secretary Liaquat Baloch and other leaders of opposition parties would address the participants of the Public March.
Meanwhile, JI Karachi General Secretary Naseem Siddiqui reiterated despite the assurance of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G Ibrahim, the army personnel are not being involved in voters’ verification process. He warned the entire electoral process would suspicious if the previous mistakes will be repeated during the verification of electoral rolls.
“All political parties have full confidence on CEC, but Fakhruddin G Ibrahim not only disappointed the political parties but the people of the city, as the SC verdict regarding voters’ verification is not being implemented”, he added. Siddiqui further said despite several meetings of JI leaders with the officials of EC over the issue of voters’ verification had been conducted, but unfortunately, they could take serious notice against the irregularities being done in electoral rolls.
He demanded of the EC to implement the SC verdict immediately, so that transparent electoral rolls could be prepared. On the occasion, Naseem Siddiqui has appealed the people to participate in the Public March in large numbers.
