KARACHI: Sindh government has imposed section 144 in the province on New Year’s Eve in accordance with which aerial firing, fireworks and riding on motorbikes without silencers will be banned. Furthermore, as per the police’s strategy, Sea View will also be closed for revelers on New Year’s night.
It is pertinent to mention here that revelers use uncountable ammunition in order to celebrate New Year every year. Such celebrations have taken a lot of lives in the past. Besides, many others have been injured with the stray bullets as revelers shoot up heavy firing though law enforcement agencies’ claims to be dealing with such revelers strictly.
Sea View and Five Star Chowrangi in North Nazimabad are considered to be the hotspots for youngsters to celebrate New Year’s night every year. A large number of youngsters gather and enjoy celebrating New Year’s night.
A notification issued on Tuesday from the home department of Sindh writes that section 144 will be imposed on the eve of New Year which means that aerial firing, fireworks and riding on motorcycles without silencers will not be allowed. On the other hand, the citizens of Karachi will not be permitted to go to Sea View to welcome the New Year.
Heavy contingents of police and law enforcement agencies would be deployed on the routes that lead to Sea View whereas barricades would also be used to stay the people away from going to Sea View. DSP Boat Basin, Ghulam Nabi Wago said that we would take strict actions against those who would violate section 144.
