WASHINGTON: US President Barack Obama’s special advisor on Pakistan and Afghanistan, Laurel Miller visited Islamabad in order to restore better relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan a few days ago. According to the US embassy, the US official was on two-day visit and met Pakistani officials significantly.
It is pertinent to mention here that the US official has visited Pakistan in such a time when the Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif is going to visit USA in a few days in future concerning Afghanistan. General Raheel Sharif will meet the US officials during his visit to USA.
Dr. Laurel gave explanations in his recent visit to Pakistan concerning the steps of Afghan officials that caused displeasure of Pakistani officials whereas that has caused increase in the gap between both the countries recently.
Dr. Laurel also presented the details of the initiative of Mullah Omer’s death’s news on behalf of Afghan government due to which peace talks between Afghan Taliban and Afghan government were stalled. It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan was going to host the second phase of peace talks between Afghan government and Afghan Taliban but Afghan Taliban cancelled these talks after the death news of Mullah Omer aired.
