Karachi: Bank statements and forms will be also available now in Urdu language. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has given instructions to all the banks and financial institutions to take some quick actions for the implementation of Urdu language. In a circular issued by State Bank of Pakistan this week, it has been written that the initiative has taken after receiving directions from Prime Minister of Pakistan. According to this plan, all the policies, documents and forms which are used by general public will be also published in Urdu language.
“According to Article 251 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the national language is Urdu, and arrangements shall be made to use it for official and other purposes”, part of circular issued by State Bank of Pakistan.
This initiative has taken after Supreme Court orders in which the court had directed the Govt. to implement Urdu as a state language. It will be now easier for illiterate people and those who don’t know English, to read and write content of any document in national language. Banks have been also advised by State Bank of Pakistan to display signboards and notifications in Urdu language also, within the premises.
