Recently released film Phantom has started a hot debate in Pakistan and the war of words has been started on social media. The major story is revolving around Mawra Hocane, Ashraf Chaudhry, Shan and Tribune Blog. The issue was started after the ban of Saif Ali Khan’s latest film Phantom in Pakistan, when leading actress of showbiz industry Mawra Hocane showed her support in favour of Phantom. She had posted her status on social media and expressed her concerns for ban of film in Pakistan.
Just after her status, social media activist and renowned author Ashraf Chaudhry criticized the actress badly and used some immoral and harsh words for Mawra Hocane. He also started a campaign on social media with the hashtag #BanMawra, which had gone viral and trending on social media. Film star Shan Shahid also become active on social media and showed his serious concerns over this issue. He also expressed his anger over the issue and asked his fans and followers to ban Mawra Hocane for supporting anti-Pakistan movie.

On this issue, leading English language newspaper website Tribune also published a blog where the immoral and harsh words used by Ashraf Chaudhry, have been criticized. It was stated in the blog that being a Pakistani, every woman is our mother or sister and we have no right to abuse our mothers and sisters badly. The blog also stated that the tradition of criticizing others with the harsh words should end now as it is destroying the image of Pakistan.
“Chaudhry showed the country that there was no need to label Mawra Hocane a traitor to make the nation dismiss her opinion, there was an easier way,” Tribune blog stated.

After the publishing of this blog, Ashraf Chaudhry replied by writing a blog and posted it to the Tribune for publishing it. But Tribune blogs desk had refused to publish it and stated that any blog featuring personal attack, by sending mail to Ashraf Chaudhry. Ashraf Chaudhry calls it the denial of freedom of expression by Express Tribune and criticized this act.
Pakistani showbiz industry has divided into 2 groups on the issue of Bollywood film Phantom in Pakistan. Other actors and actresses have also expressed their feelings on this issue, on social media. Therefore, Pakistani actors should think hundred times before supporting any propaganda film and show the unity to defend biased allegations of terrorism. However, Ashraf Chaudhry should also not use immoral words and avoid any personal attack, and make argument peacefully by only reasoning.
