PESHAWAR: Heavy rain, hailing and storm wreaked havoc in various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 46 people lost their lives in various roofs collapsing and other incidents whereas over 200 people were injured. The injured from the suburbs were being shifted to Lady Reading Hospital. Stormy rain, hailing and cyclone hit Peshawar and the suburb areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Wahid Garhi, Liaquatabad, Charsadda road, Chamkani, Pakha Ghulam, Badhu Samar Bagh, Nowshera, Mardan and other areas where roofs collapsed down and many people buried alive.
Aiding activities are suffering from obstacles due to heavy rain. The rains continue today as well and it is hailing along with stormy rain in many areas. The worst destruction took place in Charsadda road, Badhu Samar Bagh, Pakha Ghulam, Wahid Garhi, Liaquatabad and surrounding areas whereas giant polls of electricity and transformers fell down, the trees were dislodged from roots, walls and roofs of mud houses collapsed, sign boards and billboards fell down, vehicles were destroyed at some places by falling the polls and transformers on them.
Eight people of the same family lost their lives in Wahid Garhi; Peshawar plunged into darkness due to falling the electricity and telephonic polls whereas communication system became upset. Over 200 injured people were brought to Lady Reading Hospital of whom many were women and children. According to details, 29 corpses were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, 10 to Charsadda and 5 to Nowshera DHQ.
