The construction works being carried on the disputed land of Regi Lalma Housing Scheme has not won agreement of the Kukikhel tribesmen. Hundreds of the tribesmen marched a protest against the construction works in Jamrud, as according to Malak Faizullah, an elder of the tribe Kukikhel, their plea was facing rejection again and again from the provincial government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, who had only delayed the matter.
The people of Kukikhel are now suspicious about the priorities of the provincial government. The provincial government was intentionally delaying the process of negotiations to frustrate the efforts of a jirga constituted by the Peshawar High Court to solve this issue. Inspite of the orders from the high court to stop all construction works on the disputed site, the Peshawar Development Authority continued with the construction works anyway.
The protestors caused suspension of traffic on the Peshawar Torkham Highway. A three day anti-polio vaccination campaign was launched in Jamrud and Landi Kotal agency with strict security.
